I have thoroughly enjoyed both of my courses this summer: Developing Effective Professional Learning and Creating Significant Learning Environments. They have both be critical in the evolution of my innovation plan. Within each course, I feel confident that I have participated and contributed well and that my actions have helped both myself and my core collaboration group comprised of Angela Deschner, Brenda Decuir, Kacie Guidry, and Priya Rane. They have continued to be a fantastic group of ladies to work with who are always willing to share ideas and feedback so we all may grow collectively. I have shared our collaboration document as well to showcase our collaborative efforts and organization. We check in at least twice a week with each other and fill each other in when some of us are unable to attend live meetings.
For both courses, I unfortunately was not able to attend the live meetings each week due to pre-existing commitments. However, thankfully I could watch the recordings and share notes with my colleagues who were able to attend each week. These summer courses truly showcased the strength of my collaboration group and made me aware of how supportive and dependable they are. I have said it from the beginning, creating a community of learning is essential to elevating the education process, for all – students and educators alike.
For my Developing Effective Professional Learning course (5389), I would score myself an 87 out of 100. I feel like I did a good job accomplishing the assignments and readings/videos on time with extensive collaboration with my group on time. I would assist my group members with Canva as a tool to build their slides, video and audio recordings and helped to develop planning documents for the assignments. An area that I definitely want to improve upon would by my comments on the discussion posts. I tend to procrastinate on those and I feel like it would serve myself and the learning community greater purpose to participate in them each week in a timely manner.
For my Creating Significant Learning Environments course (5313), I would score myself an 88 out of 100. I had to turn in one assignment and one discussion post late due to personal matters, but otherwise, I was very consistent with my posting and submission of assignments as well as my collaborative efforts with my group. Specifically, I took the lead on our Aligning Outcomes, Assignments and Assessments assignment, developing a planning page/template and providing everyone feedfoward and suggestions for their work. One area that I would like to improve upon would be staying proactive on my work so that I don’t have to worry about it overwhelming me.
Overall, I feel like I am becoming more and more capable and confident in the work I am producing and contributing to throughout this program and it is all because of my professors and core collaboration group. Thank you all for making me feel supported and empowered – I hope to be that source for others.
